Backup for Workgroups is a disk-based backup software product that will backup any number of networked Windows computers (servers, desktops or laptops) to a central Data Repository on a hard drive. When it comes time to reclaim a lost file, folder, or even perform a complete disaster recovery, Backup for Workgroups will give you super-fast and stress-free file restoration.
How Backup for Workgroups Works:
Backup for Workgroups consists of two components: a Client component that is installed on the computers you wish to backup, and a Data Repository Manager component that collects and stores all of the Client backup data.

Centralized Data Storage
Backup for Workgroups is a client/server backup solution that contains two components: the Data Repository software (the server portion) and the Client software (the client portion). The Data Repository can be installed on any Windows computer (Windows 98 and higher) on your network with access to enough disk-based storage to hold all of your backup data. The Data Repository manages the Backup Clients and stores their backup data.
Encrypts Backup Data
Your backup data is encrypted using an industry standard encryption algorithm before it is transmitted and stored at the Data Repository to keep your information safe from line-sniffers and unauthorized view.
Utilizes Non-Redundant Storage
Files that are common to multiple workstations are only backed up once, reducing storage space used at the Data Repository by as much as 80%.
Mirrors the Data Repository
With the Mirroring option, you can add an extra layer of protection to you data by mirroring the Data Repository to a second hard drive. This mirror can be located at an off-site location, on removable internal IDE hard drives, or on external USB hard drives that can be periodically taken off site as part of your over-all disaster recovery plan.
Optional Add-Ons Available for Windows Servers
When you cannot stop services on mission-critical Windows servers, such as Exchange Server, SQL or Active Directory, you can purchase the correct Add-On to provide always-on backup protection for your important databases.

Supports Microsoft Exchange Servers
Make sure you to include your Exchange Server 5.5/2000/2003 in your backup plan. Simply use the "Stop/Start Services" feature to instruct Backup for Workgroups to stop the Exchange service, perform the backup, then automatically restart the service when the backup is complete. Or, purchase the Exchange Server Add-On , which will backup the Exchange database while it is running.
Supports Windows Registry Database Backup
Your computer cannot run unless it has a Windows Registry database. This database contains your Windows configuration, plus information about all the applications installed on your computer, and even the Domain Controller in the case of Windows NT. Backup for Workgroups automatically includes your Windows Registry file in the backup process, without requiring the purchase of an add-on.
Security Minded
While encrypting your backup files, obscuring filenames and password protecting your data, other built-in safeguards keep the Data Repository safe. The Data Repository does not initiate restorations and does not transmit its presence to keep your data away from hackers and prying eyes.

Backup for Workgroups is designed to backup any networked Windows computer to a centralized Data Repository, which you can then back up with the existing backup solution currently in use at your company. As a result, you can view Backup for Workgroups as an aggregator, and we designed the Backup for Workgroups software to be very efficient as well as compatible with a third party backup solution.

Supports Bare Metal Restore
Generates a custom report with step-by-step instructions to walk you through complete computer restoration should you need to replace your hard drive or complete computer. This user-driven bare metal restore uses the copy of the Operating System you own and paid for without unnecessarily requiring you to pay for a second copy of the same OS, which is customary with other disaster recovery products.
Budget Friendly
